KISD Blog by Liz Ramos

There is a KISD Superintendent Bera Brunch at the KISD administration building at 12:00 tomorrow, Tuesday. Please attend anyone that can. I do not blog about those meeting because I want people to be interested in what happens at these meetings and attend. I will blog on anything of real importance. I invited someone in the community to show up to this meeting. I may or may not blog about that later.

KISD board members had a special meeting this month. The one thing I want to bring up is Ms. Adams stated that there are 206 seniors at H.M. King and only approx. 50 will graduate on-time. 50! FIFTY! I am not that great at math, but I can tell you that is NOT GOOD. A lot of them missed a lot of school class time and need to make them up on make up days or they do not have the grades or enough credits to graduate. No one stated what amount of students needed what. That is just an FYI for the community.

Today is the end of Monday. I emailed the board members about putting minutes up on the website or a video after a school board meeting so the public can know what happened. This would have to be agreed upon by the board and voted on by the board. I also asked for the agenda packet to be available for the public. I asked for this to be put on a future agenda on 4/22. It has been 5 whole school business days and I have yet to hear back from anyone on the board or Bera. I just wanted ya’ll to know where I am with that. I will do a follow up email 10 school business days if I haven’t heard anything.

On another note. This pisses me off. Communication sucks at KISD. I am not the only one that feels this way. If someone emails me or leaves a voice message and I am running a business (KISD is a business, lets get that straight.) I get back to them within 24 hours. (I usually get back within two hours) There should be an unspoken 24 hour rule on all business emails and voicemails. Even if you don’t have time to answer any questions or solve any problems or provide any services soon, at least email that person back and state something like this, “I received your message. Thank you for “blah blah blah.” I will look into that for you or I am busy at the moment but your message is a priority. If I have not contacted you with “blah blah blah” please email me by “blah blah date.” That took me less than a minute to type. A minute of my life was spent letting someone know that I got the message and will get back to them. Jesus! Why is this so damn difficult!

There is another regular KISD board meeting soon and I will obviously be blogging about it because they refuse to put up non-approved minutes or a video. So, I guess I am the non-approved minutes and or the video until they can get the new director of technology to post them after or if we can get approval from the board. I have had a few people ask me to video the board meetings. I won’t. Blogging is too much fun. I would though like your support when and if they put that on the agenda to vote on. Please support transparency!!!
